Wellness & Recovery

The Support Subcommittee of the Council on Child Safety and Family Empowerment works to identify and develop strategic training for the communities and adults that interact with children in the foster care system. 

The Support Subcommittee has been tasked with:

  • Surveying recipients of child welfare services to identify common needs and determine any gaps in services - coordinating with existing programs to prevent duplicative efforts
  • Conducting and developing a comprehensive and inclusive state service plan

FY 2017/18 Subcommittee Highlights include:

  • Conducting an inventory and gap analysis on trauma informed care 
    • Identified the availability of trauma-informed care training in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
    • Surveyed Tucson foster care agencies for information about their trauma training.
    • Researched best practices regarding trauma-informed care.
    • Developed and piloted a trauma-informed care survey taken by Council members to find what trauma-informed care training their organizations offered and to receive feedback regarding what information should be sought about trauma-informed care.
